Today, I’d like to talk about music, books and movies.
First, about music,
I’m not particular about what music I listen to. I love music very much, but I don’t think I’m a kind of person who has very different tastes in music. I usually listen to music when I’m driving, and I tend to listen to the same songs or albums over and over. The Carpenters and Stevie Wonder are two of my favorite artists. I love the Carpenters’ songs very much because the melodies are so beautiful. The lyrics that Karen Carpenter writes sound pretty sad, but her words resonate with me when I sing along. On the other hand, Stevie Wonder’s songs are very energetic and always make me feel positive and encouraged.
As for books,
I usually read books written in English to improve my English reading skills. One of my favorite authors is Haruki Murakami. He writes both novels and short stories. His short stories, particularly, tend to have twists and turns at the end, and they leave you some weird aftertaste. I guess that’s what makes his stories very unique and interesting. I don’t know what his books written in Japanese sound like since I’ve never read them in Japanese. So, I’m curious to know if there are slight differences between the two versions. About the genre, I’m mostly interested in reading non-fiction or journals because they are more realistic. One of the books I love is “BE TRUE TO YOUR SCHOOL” by Bob Greene. He writes his own story of wanting to become a journalist. It depicts his final year of high school and how he made his dreams come true. I love his descriptions because they are very vivid and straightforward.

Last, but not least, as to movies,
I usually watch them on DVD. I wish I could have more free time to go to see movies, though. I love comedies because they make me laugh and feel relaxed. My favorite movie of all time is “Dumb and Dumber” with Jim Carrey. It’s about two stupid friends traveling together. They happened to find a huge sum of money in a briefcase on their way. While hoping to return it to the owner, they end up spending almost everything by doing all they wanted. It’s nothing but a hilarious story, but somehow I find their friendships very heartwarming. I watch it every time I want to release my stress, and it never fails to make me smile and laugh.
